Susquehanna Heritage Park Master Plan
Public Input Meeting

When:   Tuesday, June 19th, 2012
Where:  Lower Windsor Township Building
2425 Craley Road, Wrightsville, PA  17368
Time:     7:00 pm

The community is invited to attend an upcoming meeting to provide input on a master site plan for the Susquehanna Heritage Park.
The goal of the master site plan is to determine the best use for the county-owned Heritage Parks including the Highpoint Scenic Vista & Recreation Area and Native Lands County Park. The study will include a look at whether, and how, the parkland can/should function in conjunction with several other features of the area.

The other properties include:

  • The Zimmerman Center for Heritage, owned by the Susquehanna Gateway Heritage Area
  • Klines Run Park, owned by the Safe Harbor Water Power Corporation
  • Wilton Meadows Nature Preserve, owned by the Lancaster County Conservancy

“The goal of this meeting is to open a dialogue about the future of this county parkland,” said Tammy Klunk, director of the York County Department of Parks & Recreation. “It’s important these decisions are driven by public involvement and input.”

The meeting will include an introduction and review of the planning process, a discussion of consultant observations and an opportunity for attendees to share thoughts and ideas on the future of the park.

There are no immediate plans to make any changes or improvements to the park. The goal is to develop a framework for making such decisions.

This project is being funded in part with a grant from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.  Pashek Associates, Landscape Architects and Community Planners, of Pittsburgh are leading the master planning process, in conjunction with team members from AlbertinVernon Architecture, Loganton, PA, and Battaglia Jones Landscape Architects, Bellefonte, PA.

Please join us on June 19th to share your thoughts, ideas, and vision for the future of the Susquehanna Heritage Park.

If you are unable to attend this meeting, please provide us with your input by posting your comments, thoughts, and ideas here.
